Getting a little Headspace

Better Late than Never…

Good Morning – It’s Tuesday, September 26th around 6:30am and I’ve completed my 9th session practicing meditation. The app that I’ve been using is called Headspace and my opinion of it is purely positive.

First off, the app is free for the first ten, ten minute sessions. These daily sessions have all been a part of the basics and are a great way to intro anyone to guided meditation. Each day is a new lesson and a few have videos to help reinforce those lessons. Meditation has been a hot topic for a while now, and it’s been a practice that I’ve been dabbling with for the past two years – and by few years, I mean I’ll stick with it for a week and drop it.

For some reason, meditation has evaded my normal routine for quite some time. It doesn’t take long for a missed practice session to lead to a few more missed practice sessions and then go further downhill from there. Although, like anything else I can just pick up anytime and start over… Each time I’ve re-downloaded the Headspace app, I start at Day 1 with an open mind. And to me, that’s the best part. I don’t get upset or mad with myself, because I’ve always found the ability to return to it.

It’s interesting as to why I return to meditation, which is what sparked this post. When I think of meditating, I think of calming the mind. It’s simple, yet complicated.

I’ll talk about the benefits of meditation, then I’ll discuss the reasons to make it a habit, and the latest reason I’m giving it a go once again!
