“Indulge in Everything We Wish”

Start with what you enjoy.

I’ve read so many damn self help articles that just repeat everything everyone else keeps saying. I’m at the point that my inner voice is saying, “Just F#*|<ing Do Something and Stop Reading”, which perhaps means those articles did help to a degree. However, it’s difficult to start anything when you don’t know the first step to take .

So let’s first start with what am I doing that gets me excited? Well… I enjoy attempting to be creative… I ordered the Wacom Art tablet and it  arrived Wednesday, May 10th. — Just what I wanted, another toy that glues me to the computer — With this I can utilize my newly acquired Photoshop CC app. You’ll probably see my photo’s, logos, and backgrounds change constantly. I also have a new product in the works. Currently, we’re drafting the patent application and have paid for the lawyer’s retainer fee to file. I won’t discuss this further until the application is filed.
But the plan moving forward is to draw, create, write, video, edit, basically find any activity to exercise my imagination muscle. I believe as most adults start to age, they realize the constraints of the world, which creates a demoralizing and debilitating voice in our minds. There is something about the people who don’t listen and chase after their dreams… I for one, enjoy the hell out of day dreaming and thinking about what I truly want.
Day Dreaming is a lost art.
There’s so many situations that we limit ourselves by thinking it’s impossible or too hard. For example, I don’t know anything about video editing and frankly, I’m kind of a boring safe person, but that didn’t stop me from purchasing a GoPro and jumping off shit during my vacation in Punta Cana. “See Here“. Nor did my lack of experience making websites hinder me from creating jeffmcsweeny & ContemplationNation. I’ve surprised myself quite a bit by accomplishing things that a few years ago I would have said screw it…

Could I Land a Job Doing This?

Becoming an expert, specialist, or at the very minimum, acquiring working knowledge in an area of interest can’t be that hard if you put in the time. I figure, I’ll give it a go… I read an article from Medium and it  gave some solid advice about landing your dream job even if you graduated from a mediocre school. The takeaways I gathered revolve around just doing the work and gaining the experience. Do it for free. Do anything just to get yourself out there and try.
The one point that I want to expand on… documenting my progress will validate my experiences and accomplishments. I know most people are all talk, so I wanted to find a way to stand out and show the world, future employers, as well as myself that my words are backed by actions.
